Holiday Tree Farm Mini-Sessions – Day 1 – Tacoma Family Photographer

What a year, WHAT A YEAR! Can you believe 2020 is almost over (finally!)? This season was so crazy with masking up, wiping down, keeping apart. I can’t believe we successfully completed five days of socially distanced mini-sessions in October and November! That’s over 60 families for minis ALONE. I can’t thank you enough for booking your session with me, for being supportive, and for being beautiful and kind humans. You are truly the best. Below are some of my favorites from Day One of my Holiday Tree Farm Mini-Sessions.

If you missed out on this year’s Fall, Halloween, or Holiday minis, I hope you book next year! Make sure you’re on my VIP List so you’ll have FIRST access to sign-ups, giveaways, and discounts. A Better Than School Portraits day is in the works for February 20th and Motherhood Minis will be announced mid-winter. I can’t wait!

I hope you have a wonderful, joyous weekend and a Happy Happy Happy New Year!
Merry Everything!

All my lovin’,
Stacy

Photo sessions to reopen during COVID — Tacoma Family Photographer

The COVID-19 crisis has impacted us all and I truly hope this message finds you healthy and secure. I know how hard it is to be home with kids, working, homeschooling, house chores and projects all while trying to nurture our mental and physical health.

We all have a strong desire to get back to the new normal slowly and safely. I anticipate that I can start photographing families soon. And by soon, I mean June 1st!

THE OFFICIAL WORD IS THAT PHOTOGRAPHERS CAN START OPERATING AGAIN ONCE WE ENTER PHASE 2 OF THE WASHINGTON REOPEN PLAN!

If you have already booked a session between June 1st-September 1st you can assume that we won’t need to reschedule. I highly encourage those of you that love fall sessions to consider taking a summer spot just in case the virus spikes again in September. My annual Holiday Tree Minis will likely be scheduled for late summer/early fall. I’ll be sending out a newsletter to all my VIPs for first pick at time slots then posting to my Facebook and Instagram.

Only you know how much family portraits mean to you. Don’t miss the opportunity to capture your photos this year. The best part? Your holiday photos will be done wayyyyy ahead of time!

SAFETY WILL BE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY! HERE IS WHAT WE PLAN TO DO TO MAKE SURE YOUR FAMILY STAYS HEALTHY:

I will be wearing a mask to all outdoor Family Photography Sessions. For Newborn Sessions, I’ll wear a mask and gloves.

If I or ANYONE in my household has been sick in any way within a two-week span of your session date, I’ll contact you to reschedule. I ask that you do the same. I promise to make room for all rescheduling needs.

I will practice extreme hygiene and minimize touching you and your family during the session.

I will use longer focal length lenses so we can stay six feet away as much as possible which will still allow us to capture images that seem like we are closer.

I will schedule one photo session a day.

Family Photography is an investment in your family. It is an absolute privilege to be able to capture your family and I don’t take that privilege lightly ESPECIALLY after this crisis. This global experience has really shined a light on what matters: our loved ones. And after that, maybe toilet paper.

Motherhood — Tacoma Lifestyle Family Photographer

Motherhood is so much more than I ever imagined it to be. It’s exhausting, exasperating, exciting, wild. It makes me laugh and cry, often at the same time. Some days it’s too much for my brain, heart, and body to handle and I want to take it all back. But I know I’d miss my kids too much and I’d miss being their mom. Their laugher, creativity, brilliance, hugs, love, and even their arguing gets me through even my hardest days, especially in quarantine. Despite how frustrated I get when I’ve been asked for a snack for the 523rd time in a single day, I enjoy being a momma.

Happy mother’s day to the moms of one and to moms of many, to moms who have lost children, to children who have lost their moms, to those with strained relationships, and to those who want to be a mom. Happy mother’s day to grandmas and aunties and extra and bonus moms, mama bears, fur moms, mamas, mimis, gigis, and nanas. You are strong, you are special, you are loved.

Modern School Portraits – Tacoma School Portrait Photographer

This year I celebrated my 3rd year offering school portraits. Never did I think it would be this successful. I’m so grateful to my schools, the teachers and directors, families, and especially the kiddos who allow me to take their photos each year. School portraits are something I look forward to every Spring and Fall and I know parents get excited for picture day, too.

Are you interested in having me come to your school for Picture Day? Or do you have a bunch of friends that want these types of portraits? I’m available for Pop-Up Picture Day at your home. Send me an email!

Parents: How in the world did you capture my child’s personality in school portraits?!
Me: I ask them if they can see a dinosaur or a fairy in my camera.

Here are some of the latest portraits from my schools and events.

Piper’s 1st Birthday Cake Smash — Tacoma Children’s Portrait Photographer

Oh, little Piper Ann. I seriously cannot believe it’s been a year since your mommy and daddy brought you home from Arizona.

For Piper’s 1st birthday session, the Mittleiders and I met at Wild Hearts Farm in the gorgeous white studio. Despite it being January, the studio was warm and cozy – perfect for cake smashing! We also got to use their vintage trailer and pop into Iggy, the huge, clear dome with a Papasan chair. The sun was shining which made it feel warm in there too.

It seems like we’ve been planning and waiting for this cake smash for a year… definitely a good thing! First birthdays are HUGE milestones, not just for the babe, but for mom and dad too. You made it! You survived a whole year together! You learned about each other and what it takes to be a family of 3 (or in the Mittleider’s case, 5 with their two Bostons). And you learned how to love each other. So what better way than to celebrate by getting messy in a tutu and stuffing your face with sweet buttercream and yummy cake?!

Kinda makes you want to go out and buy yourself a cake to stuff in your face right now, doesn’t it? If there wasn’t 8″ of snow outside right now, I definitely would!

Tree Farm Mini-Sessions Day 2 – PNW Family Photographer

Day 2 of the Tree Farm Mini-Session was just as great as Day 1! These sweet families braved the frosty air and celebrated each other with love. May you all have a joyous holiday season and a wonderful New Year! 💖💖💖

Thank you for spending your day with me and my camera!

Tree Farm Mini-Sessions Day 1 – PNW Family Photographer

This was my third year doing tree farm mini-sessions and for the third year in a row, we had beautiful weather. It was cold, but the sun was shining and everyone was great spirits! (The hot cocoa and cider helped warm them up a bit.) This year we were at the Glenwood Tree Farm in Tacoma, a wedding venue during summer and tree farm for Christmas. The family that owns the farm is so sweet and gracious for letting a bunch of photographers and our clients use their land!

I had so much fun seeing returning families and meeting new ones. I can’t wait to do this again next year. I do hope to see everyone again. It’s always great to see how much the children have grown!

So to start off this photo blog of Tree Farm Mini-Sessions Day 1, I am sharing my BFF Jessi and her boyfriend Andy in their matching onesie pajamas and their puppers Isla. Don’t they look amazing?!

Thank you to everyone that joined me in the trees this year! YOU are amazing! Happy Holidays!

Dance Recital Portraits – Tacoma Children’s Photographer

I love offering Fine Art School Portraits because it gives me opportunities that I never imagined. Jamie Arrington asked if I could put together a three-session package for her: Children’s mini-session for her daughters in their dance recital costumes, professional headshots for her business, and a Lifestyle Family session. She got a deal!

I met them at Stadium High School where the girls were to be performing later that day. They each had two costumes and so totally rocked their dance moves.
